Cultivus Loci - Lyra, 1997

Lyra was a temporary installation inside a lily pond. The artwork consists of copper towers and spheres placed in the configurations of two overlapping constellations in the summer sky: Lyra and the Summer Triangle. Lyra is represented by seven spheres of varying diameters with the diameter relative to the star’s order of magnitude, while the Summer Triangle is represented by the copper towers. Commissioned by Contemporary Art Center in Virginia Beach, VA.

This lily pond hosts copper globes in the formation of the constellation Lyra - a projection of the summer sky onto the water below.
